International Attendee Travel Information

We look forward to welcoming participants from around the world to our upcoming event. As you prepare for your journey to the United States, please review the following visa application and travel guidelines to help ensure a smooth and successful arrival.

Applying for a Visa (this can be optional for an event to include)
Begin the visa application process as early as possible if you need a temporary non-immigrant visa to attend the conference. Processing times and visa appointment availability vary by location.  The U.S. Department of State recommends applying at least 3-4 months in advance of your travel date. Visit travel.state.gov for the most up-to-date information.

Travel Guidelines

  • Verify travel documents: Ensure your visa, ESTA, or other required paperwork is valid and aligns with your travel purpose.
  • Stay informed about entry requirements: Visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website or your local U.S. embassy.
  • Utilize scientific travel resources: The National Academy of Sciences International Visitors Office (IVO) guides visa interview preparation and travel to the U.S.
  • Organize essential documents: Have all required materials, including event confirmation, hotel booking, and return flight details, ready at the border.
  • Arrival considerations: Due to enhanced security protocols, international travelers may experience longer processing times at ports of entry.

Should you require official documentation from the event organizers or have questions about your travel preparations, please contact Roseanne Jones. We are happy to assist.

We greatly value our attendees and are dedicated to ensuring you feel confident and informed while you travel.
